IF YOU CAN’T BEAT EM…THEN ADAPT!

I have steadfastly been refusing to use AI, especially when it comes to writing. And for full disclosure, I will never use AI to write. The only tools I use when I write are Grammarly (spelling and grammar check only), a dictionary, a thesaurus, and, of course, the Internet for research. But I will never let AI write for me. What’s the point of that? The one thing that makes every writer unique is their personal voice, mistakes and all. I choose that over AI telling me a generic story any day.
I wish I could self-finance my productions, but alas, I am not rich. And the more I write, the more I am learning how incredibly difficult it is to get your work produced by a third party. So, I broke down and tried a few AI tools to turn my scripts into video. Granted, I am a newbie to all the tools out there. Someone with more experience with the programs and willing to pay for the upgraded versions will likely achieve better results than I’ve had so far. Free versions only for me for the time being!
After trying about ten different programs, my opinion of them was confirmed: none of them will compare to real filmmaking, especially given my limited knowledge of the programs and my refusal to pay for upgrades. Then I reminded myself that I am simply using these tools to create visual examples of my writing; I am not trying to produce a theatrical release using a free AI tool. Therefore, I completed the process of turning one of my scripts into a video using one of the programs I tested. Of course, using the free version, there was a limit on how long the video could be, so I didn’t even get to produce the whole scene, only about half of it. Based on the result, my job as an actress is still safe for the time being.
I used a scene I had written for a writing program I applied to, and yes, I was accepted. It’s a two-page scene about two sisters arguing in the kitchen over Zepbound pens. The tool turned the Zepbound box into a huge box of what look like dishes. The AI actresses don’t move naturally, and you can definitely tell it is AI. Still, it was nice to see the words I’d written in video format, blips and all.
I'd like to produce my work the old-fashioned, natural way, but in the meantime, I'm open to exploring AI tools to create visual samples of my writing. Once I do more research and tutorials, I may upgrade to the upgraded versions. In the meantime, have fun watching, or feel free to make fun of my first attempt at a script-to-video using AI.
