Hurry Up and Wait

I’ve been blessed with a decent amount of commercial jobs, but not so many blessings on the theatrical side. So it is always nice to get back to a film shoot when I can, even if it is only for extra work.
As actors know, being on set equals long days, especially when you are doing background work. This film was no different. Thank goodness the Navy prepared me well for the “hurry up and wait” life. I had a 9:30am call time, and I wasn’t called to set until 5pm. While I waited, I read a book, watched a movie, rehearsed for another audition, and even managed a power nap.
After waking from my nap, I noticed them: the drums in the holding area…with the sticks just lying there calling my name…I couldn’t resist! Yes, I started banging away until the Production Assistant (PA) popped his head in, laughing, and kindly asked me to put down the sticks. And now…I want drum lessons…because why not?!
Also, this was my first time filming at John Marshall High School. Which in itself was pretty cool. If you know, you know.
